Making progress!!! Several appointments this week with NP at Plastic Surgeon…one more drain out…one more to go!!! Winning!!! Hopefully in 2 more weeks I will be drain free!!
Had great 1st visit with medical oncologist yesterday to discuss treatment recommendations. I loved the fact that she was caring, personable, showed empathy, and super thorough in her full assessment and explanations of my case and preliminary treatment recommendations.
So here’s the current verdict…
- I will not need radiation therapy.
- I will require anti-endocrine therapy for at least 5-10 years due to my cancer being estrogen and progesterone receptor positive and HER2 negative . This treatment was not something unexpected by me as I’ve been doing my research!!
- A test called Oncotype Dx has been ordered by my medical oncologist. In a nutshell this test will help my oncologist evaluate my risk of early-stage, estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer coming back in a part of the body away from the breast (distant recurrence) and to help determine if I will benefit from chemotherapy. The results of the Oncotype DX Breast Recurrence Score Test, combined with other features of the cancer, will provide more information in order to make a more informed decision about whether or not to have chemotherapy based on my type of cancer.
- Results of this test will take 2 weeks.
So there you have it. I am feeling stronger each day, grateful, and already claiming chemotherapy will not be needed. To God be the glory!!!
