Post op Day 6’nnJumping for joyHello everyone! First I would like to to say praise God as day by day I’m making progress to the top of the hill. After a few grueling days with pain control and low blood pressure and elevated heart rate concerns, things have  stabilized . I was discharged home on Saturday afternoon. It’s great to be home in my own bed . I had a great day yesterday and the big win was being able to take a relaxing shower !!  Daily wash 🧼 off‘’s are for the birds‼️ I  was able to sit up  for a couple of hours, watched a little football, got a little walking in  with my in home physical therapist’s-aka-Hunby)and  took a 4 hour nap with no disruptions. I will be honest this reconstructive surgery called a Lumbar Artery Perforator (LAP) flap has been a little tougher recovery  than my bilateral mastectomy mostly because I used my own tissue versus implants….I have incisions across the entire length of my lower back, a smaller incision in my right lower abdomen and of course incisions on my bilateral breast. My recovery period this  far has not been easy but I know with God’s healing power  it will be so worth it.
Thanks to all my friends and family ( you know who you are that have reached out by text, phone calls, or hospital visits) and the exceptional care I received from the entire medical team at UT-Southwestern. That in itself .. means more to me and my recovery than words  can express!!! Special thanks for my wonder husband, son, and Mom for always being by my side no matter what!!! Thanks you Jesus for continuing to show up and show out throughout my journey.

  1. Dear sweet Karen, I am so sorry to hear what you have been going through. I believe that God doesn’t give us anything we can’t handle, and with your belief in God he will get you through this. You have a wonderful village that will get you through this as well. Please know I am thinking and praying for your healing ❤️‍🩹 Love, Jamie
