Morning journalMorning journalFeeling pretty good  and I thank God for those wonderful things called pain meds and muscle relaxers!!! 😄The good thing is that I’ve been able to wean down on some of the meds  and remain comfortable  most days. I also have to remember this is only day 7 and to give myself grace and allow my body to heal in God’s timing. This surgery was more extensive from a surgical and recovery  process, than my bilateral mastectomy, at least for me, and I’ve come to really realize that I need to listen to my body and what God has blessed me with and through….trust and don’t rush the process.🙏🏽❤️

On Tuesday exactly one week post op my personal nurse (AKA- Hubby)  noticed one of my drains was not working properly due to a clot at the incision site. He immediately went into action, called the plastic surgeon and within 1 hour I was being evaluated by my plastic surgeon at UT- Southwestern. No concerns on assessment and the best part…3 of my 4 drains was able to be removed!! Although in my eyes my lower back incision, abdominal incision and bilateral breast reconstruction sites look all bruised, with some swelling, and not the greatest, my plastic surgeon reassured me everything is looking great , healing well, and he is pleased with my progress.

I am so blessed to be home with my healthcare crew…my drill sergeants ( hubby and Mom)  who are making sure all of my activities of daily living are met and then some!! Yes I’m SPOILED and I’m allowing myself to take it!!😀 Each day gets better and taking small walks in the house, sitting up more, receiving cards, text messages, phone calls and most importantly spending quiet time with God is the best part of my healing process and journey!🙏🏽🙏🏽
